The owner of Carithers Flowers, Charles Carithers, brought us in to redesign and manage his Google Adwords marketing program. During our first year with Carithers, we lite up the scoreboard. Our team successfully increased online sales revenues for Carithers from the $164K that Charles had produced in 2008, up to $1.1M, by the end of 2009. That represents an increase of more than 385%, making Carithers one of the fastest growing floral design firms in the country in 2009. Over the next ten years, we continued to produce stunning online growth for Carithers. We delivered one record result after another. In fact, our efforts helped to solidify Carithers Flowers position as one of the fastest growing and most successful online florists in the United States. By the end of 2018, we had successfully guided Carithers to online revenues of approximately $3.5 million. That helped Carithers Flowers to become one of the top 20 independent florists in the entire country. Many have asked me how we created such stunning success for Carithers Flowers. The answer is simple. We are one of the very best in the country at what we do. Our sole focus was on helping Charles and his wonderful family to find success. Even though we ended our working relationship with Carithers in 2019, I feel sure that we succeeded with our original mission and left the Carithers family in a very enviable position.

How Our Story Unfolded With Carithers

In 2009 Carithers Flowers hired our firm. We grew their online revenue by 385% in our first year with them. In January of 2010, Charles Carithers decided to renew the service agreement with us. He also decided to greatly expand our marketing responsibilities. That year, we were tasked with creating a truly comprehensive Internet marketing strategy, that would propel Carithers Flowers into a dominate position as the premier floral brand in the Atlanta, Georgia market. The program we created was designed to reduce dependence on wire in flower orders, create a sustainable stream of online sales transactions, enhance communication with current and prospective customers, increase information indexing capabilities and drive sustained, long term growth in Carithers Flowers revenues. The sales results we achieved in 2010 were simply stunning. The marketing strategy and tactics that we created for Carithers served as the springboard for what became a very long term and strategic relationship between Flyline Search Marketing and Carithers Flowers.

Carithers Flowers signed contract renewal after contract renewal with us. We rewarded that loyalty by delivering steady and sustainable growth for Carithers Flowers. Each year, our efforts resulted in significant increases in the overall online revenue and online sales results. Each year, we also improved the overall e-commerce conversion rates as well. By the end of 2018, online revenues had grown to approximately $3.5M dollars and conversion rates had reached levels achieved by only the most successful floral design firms in the United States.

Enjoying an incredible day of sales training today. The training is being conducted by nationally acclaimed telephone sales trainer, Tim Huckabee. I attended the class, along with the incredible team from Carithers Flowers in Atlanta. Mr. Huckabee is the President of Floral Strategies. Tim and his organization train flower shops, all over the world.

Tim has worked in the floral industry for more than 20 years. He brings a wealth of knowledge to the table and did an excellent job of delivering his message to the Carithers sales group. Prior to becoming CEO for Flyline Search Marketing, I spent more than 31 years working in the telecommunications industry. All of those years were spent working in the advertising and publishing arena. I heard many great speakers during those years. Tim ranks right up there with some of the very best I have listened to. He brings incredible energy. Even though it was a long day, Tim kept the audience super engaged. His message was upbeat, relevant and might I add, right on the money!

Carithers Flowers has been a client of Flyline Search Marketing since 2009. During the past nine years, we have helped the Carithers organization to grow into one of the premier flower shops in the United States. Today, Carithers Flowers is one of the top 20 largest independent florists in the country. Flyline Search Marketing has been working with Charles Carithers for nearly 8 years now. During that time we have helped Mr. Carithers grow his firm Carithers Flowers into a Top 20 Florist in the United States. We have also worked with Charles in helping him build a nationwide same day delivery firm, known as Let Life Bloom, LLC.

Let Life Bloom offers three national floral brands. We sell FTD, Teleflora and 1-800 Flowers products. These products and floral brands are some of the most popular in the country. Our customers have the opportunity to choose their arrangement from one of the best selections of fresh cut flowers offered by any florist operating in the United States.

We offer nationwide same day delivery. This option is available on a wide array of flower arrangements we offer. Our team has developed a nationwide network of hand selected local flower shops. These local shops owners fulfill all same day delivery orders taken from areas outside of the Atlanta metro area. Three are a small handful of cities we serve that are extremely rural in nature. One example would be North Pole Alaska. There isn’t a local flower shop in our network, operating in the market. For those customers, we offer offer next day and two day drop shipment options. We offer a nice selection of floral arrangements, and some incredibly delicious edible treats from Shari’s Berries. in our drop ship program.

The national order gatherers spend a ton of money on advertising to secure those orders. They keep an ever increasing percentage of each order they take in order to cover their cost of order acquisition and to provide the profit margin their owners demand. That leaves the poor local florist creating and delivering many arrangements at, or sometimes below cost. Not a formula for success.

We run radio spots on multiple stations in the Atlanta market to drive increased brand awareness for Carithers Flowers. These spots are primarily targeted for year round sales opportunities, versus holiday flower sales. These particular spots will stop running the week leading up to Mother’s Day. We choose to end the spots early because we don’t anticipate needing marketing support from radio to achieve the tactical holiday objectives set by Carithers Flowers.

At the end of this coming week, we will reach Mother’s Day. The vast majority of the flower shops in the country will sell more flowers this week than during any other week this year. Most will struggle to actually make a profit from all of the work.

We spent some time a few days ago cutting some new radio ads spots for Carithers Flowers. The ads will run on WSB radio. You can tune in to WSB at 750 AM or 95.5 FM. These new spots will actually start to hit the airwaves shortly after Christmas.

The annual Halloween contest at Carithers Flowers was held today. Everyone at the flower shop really had a great time, customers and employees included. The winner of the contest was Kristin Crowder. Congratulations to Kristin and to all the folks at Carithers who participated.

Carithers Flowers is a family owned and operated flower shop. They have been in business for more than 40 years. The Halloween contest has been a long standing tradition and has always created lots of fun and enjoyment from the employee group. Carithers customers who happen to visit the flower shop on Halloween day, always seem to enjoy the event as well.
